Seasonal timing

Around 149 nights a year fall below freezing and the first frost usually lands about October 12, so a lateral already narrowed by root hair has the least room to work in exactly the season nobody wants to dig.

Common questions

How much does a plumber cost?

It depends on the job and how bad the problem is. That is why the first step is a phone call. Describe the problem and get your free estimate on the phone, with upfront pricing.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes, you will.

Do I need to fill out a form?

No forms and no waiting on emailed quotes. One phone call is all it takes.

Can I get help at night or on a weekend?

We have plumbers ready to help families in the community 24/7, but moment-to-moment availability depends on demand. Call to find out how soon we can service your home.

Should I wait to call?

You already know that plumbing problems don't go away on their own. And waiting just increases the risks to your house. Plumbers see this hesitation all the time. Instead of regretting not calling earlier, just make that 2-minute call now and get your free estimate.

People also ask

Who owns the sewer line between my house and the street?

You do, in almost every case. The public main under the street belongs to the utility, but the lateral running from the foundation out to that main is private property, which is why a blockage in it lands on the homeowner rather than the city.

Why do roots grow back after the line was cleared?

Because clearing cuts the roots off at the pipe wall and leaves the crack or open joint that let them in. The tree keeps sending feeders toward the water, so the interval between backups is the useful number to track. Shortening intervals usually mean the pipe itself has opened up.

Does homeowners insurance pay for a collapsed lateral?

It depends entirely on your policy and the cause, and buried-line coverage is often a separate rider. Contact your insurance provider before any digging starts so the claim question is settled first.

Is a camera inspection worth doing before I buy a house here?

On an older lot with big trees, it answers a question nothing else will. A scope shows joint separation, bellies and root intrusion that a drain test alone can hide.
